Paradise Pattern’s Smultron Dress

I pattern tested this lovely new dress from Paradise Patterns, the #SmultronDress. It’s an elegant, understated bias cut half circle dress with a unique v-shaped bodice and delicate narrow straps. The way it drapes, and gathers in the back with the ties, is so well-designed. Twirl factor’s at a ten and I love it 💃🏻

There are two views and I mixed the front of View A with the back ties of View B and lengthened by about 10 inches in this sunshine-y tencel twill.

It’s deceptively simple-looking but sewing down and easing the curves on the front and edge stitching TESTED my patience. It took a lot of pins and a round of seam ripping to get it just right, but right it went.

No joke - I almost cried a little, but I was also having a tough day 😜

But it was so worth it!

I suggested it be leveled at an intermediate level and that’s what she went with, but the straight-across view is easier. Between the #HallonDress and this one, Sanna is one of my favorite indie pattern makers. I can’t wait to swirl this baby all summer, and this winter too layered with some sweaters 💛

This pattern goes up to a 57in/144cm bust.
